Karl Knauer wins gold in Berlin
Eye-catching design
As with six packs, Stella Artois packaging is made entirely of cardboard and is therefore produced using sustainable material that can be easily recycled with paper and cardboard waste. But that is where any similarities with the carrier systems previously used in the drinks industry end. The new, elegant Stella Artois case , with rounded corners and elaborately varnished, shows at first glance that there must be something very special packed inside and therefore offers the perfect counterpart for the premium brand. When the cardboard box is taken down from the shelf, a second, very innovative detail emerges, for which the Karl Knauer packaging developers have already been awarded the German Design Award 2024: the telescopic handle, which does not require plastic reinforcement straps and makes it particularly easy and convenient to access and to transport. Once the twelve small bottles have arrived safely at their final destination, there is still an extraordinary unpacking experience to look forward to: The packaging can be easily divided into two halves along a 360° perforation, and the bottom part can be transformed into a tray in no time at all by pushing the integrated side tabs inwards.
The coveted iF Award was already the 9th award for the long-established company Karl Knauer. This makes the Black Forest based company one of the regular guests at the award ceremony, at which only 75 of the almost 11,000 competition entries were honoured with a gold award. A good reason to raise a toast – with a bottle of Stella Artois, it goes without saying.
