Karl Knauer Poland applies for PEFC certification

For Karl Knauer KG in Biberach, the certificate exists already since 2010, now Karl Knauer Poland Sp. z o.o. in Pniewy also applies for PEFC certification. On 13 September, an independent audit was carried out and conformity with the relevant regulations was checked. The certification is carried out within the framework of a product chain audit ("chain of custody"). With PEFC certification, wood and paper processing companies prove that they use wood from sustainably managed forests. The result of the audit is expected soon.

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) is a transparent and independent system for ensuring sustainable forest management. PEFC certification is thus a kind of global "forest MOT". Wood and paper products with the PEFC seal originate from ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable forest management. Worldwide, 330 million hectares of forest are PEFC-certified and more than 20,000 PEFC product certifications have been issued. (Source: pefc.de)
