Apprenticeship training at Karl Knauer recognised as “outstanding”

Silver at the Druck&Medien Awards 2022

The most important awards event in the German print and media industry, the Druck&Medien Awards, came of age this year. An expert panel of judges met for the 18th time to honour companies that have attracted positive attention over the past twelve months with their exceptional products, innovations and services. Black Forest-based packaging and promotional products specialist Karl Knauer, who has been a Druck&Medien award winner in previous years, was this time nominated as a finalist in the category “Packaging Printer of the Year” and was particularly thrilled to receive the silver award in the category “Training Company of the Year”.

“The fact that we have once again been awarded for our quality of training and the opportunities we offer our apprentices is a welcome recognition of our commitment,” says Marco Manna, Human Resources Manager at Karl Knauer KG, on receiving the award. “Because, like virtually every company out there, we too are looking for young applicants who are keen to work in a really exciting and diverse industry. And the positive attention that such an award brings helps us to attract young skilled workers.”

The family-owned business has, for many years, invested a great deal of energy, time and financial resources into supporting young people entering the world of work. As well as sharing specialist knowledge, those responsible at Karl Knauer are also keen to actively integrate apprentices into everyday working life as quickly as possible. Their independence and sense of responsibility are also promoted within special apprentice projects, such as supporting the company's social media channels, sustainability campaigns and participation in packaging competitions.

That this approach works isn’t just confirmed by the Druck&Medien Awards panel; the apprenticeship figures speak for themselves: Karl Knauer employed a total of 21 apprentices and students in 2021. “Our apprentices regularly place among the best in the country and impress with extremely good results. So it’s great to see that the vast majority of them stay with the company after successfully completing their training, helping us shape the future,” says Michael Deronja, Managing Director at Karl Knauer KG.
