An Advent calendar that delivers

Die sechs Motive des Puzzle-Adventskalenders für das Logistikunternehmen Fr. Meyer’s Sohn

What do Fr. Meyer's Sohn (FMS), a global freight forwarding company and one of the ten largest sea freight forwarders in the world, and Black Forest-based packaging and promotional product specialist Karl Knauer have in common? The answer is a great deal: both are family-run businesses with a long tradition, passionate service providers, and known for their straightforward full-service solutions. Both go above and beyond to deliver goods on time and in perfect condition, including the Advent calendar that Karl Knauer has designed and produced for FMS this year.

Advent calendar – a logistical masterpiece in miniature
While the more than 1,000 transport and logistics specialists at FMS mainly work with container-sized freight travelling by ship, truck, train and air, the team at Karl Knauer focuses on smaller packaging units made from sustainable cardboard material. These range from classic folding boxes for food, cosmetics and consumer goods to customised, premium-finish packaging solutions, drinks packaging and giveaway products. Like the puzzle Advent calendar Karl Knauer has produced for FMS in 2024, for example. Made from sustainable cardboard material, it consists of 24 cubes that fit into a matching frame. The cubes and frame have been designed according to the customer's specifications and can be pieced together to create six different images from the world of logistics. As the puzzle Advent calendar is part of Karl Knauer's standard range, it provides customers with a number of benefits: attractive prices, no additional tool costs, and easy-to-manage delivery times, plus the option of customisation.

Karl Knauer's experienced co-packing team took care of filling the small folding boxes with Ritter Sport chocolates. Every year, the packaging specialist from the Black Forest fills over a million Advent calendars by hand with chocolate and other surprises including snacks, spices, cosmetics, jewellery, toys and tools. In fact, Karl Knauer has assembled and packaged pretty much everything imaginable before now. This is only made possible thanks to detailed process planning and a well-coordinated team, who bring together great judgement, the highest quality standards and strict hygiene criteria.

Where custom solutions are standard
At Karl Knauer, preparations for the following year already get underway before Christmas. This is because sufficient time has to be planned in, especially when it comes to custom calendars, so that all special requests can be accommodated. Karl Knauer’s team of advisors therefore recommend making enquiries as early as possible. A great chance to do this is at PSI, the leading European trade show for promotional products, incentives and merchandising, which is set to take place in Düsseldorf from 7 to 9 January 2025. Alongside the Advent calendar for FMS, Karl Knauer will be showcasing a host of other examples designed to make the perfect impression on customers.
