A new dimension of advertising

Augmented reality – or expanded reality – is described as a computer-supported perception where real and virtual worlds blend together in a mobile end device (e.g., iPhone). Text information and graphics relating to the world being viewed are fed to the device in real-time. The use of the application ranges from information concerning the direct environment up to superimposed navigation into the field of view right on to games used for advertising media and games.

With this innovation, Karl Knauer is able to allow its customers – for the very first time - to place their advertising on a note cube in the virtual world of mobile games. This innovation was awarded the "Promotional Gift Award 2012". The award was given to the note cube, already a popular advertising medium, which additionally includes access to an interactive game above and beyond the individually printed advertising motif. This access is enabled via an app for augmented reality. We are the first German folding carton and advertising medium manufacturer to implement this technology in connection with standard promotional items like the note cube. In this way we cleverly combine tried-and-tested products from the analogue world with the new and fascinating virtual world and the Internet.

Our customers can ideally use promotion items fitted with their individual app at trade fairs, promotional events and during sales. The app which is tailored to the customer's specific requirements can be downloaded from the individual app stores using a QR code. Augmented reality apps can be activated using nearly any standard smartphone or tablet PC. The award-winning concept and technical implementation was realised by Karl Knauer KG in exclusive cooperation with Visionbox GmbH & Co.KG, a specialist in the field.
