Karl Knauer nominated as “Printer of the Year”
This will be the fourth time that the trade journal “Druck & Medien” is selecting the “Printer of the Year”.
The reasons given for the nomination were as follows: “We have nominated Karl Knauer in the ‘Innovation’ category as the company keeps creating innovative packaging concepts. Like the wraparound packaging it recently designed for Bauerfeind. It shows what can be done in the packaging sector with intelligent design and sustainable materials.” In contrast to many other competitions, the winner is chosen by the magazine’s readers rather than a specialist jury. From 1 December, the readers can choose from ten printing shops for each of the four categories.
“Just being nominated is a great honour for us,” says a delighted Richard Kammerer, Management Board Spokesperson at Karl Knauer. “This competition is not about awarding companies that have presented especially spectacular packaging. The emphasis is much more on real innovation, which is not obvious at first glance – as is the case for the packaging that we have designed for Bauerfeind. The packaging conceals a clever hinge design, barely noticeable from the outside, that provides secure theft prevention, while using minimal material. ‘Druck & Medien’ placing us on the shortlist for this project, among other things, demonstrates how well they understand the sector.”
