| Duration of apprenticeship | 3 years The apprenticeship at Karl Knauer takes place at the Biberach plant and at the vocational school (currently located in Offenburg) on 1-2 days per week. |
| Areas of work/industries | This includes a qualified IT specialist in the area of system integration work in companies in different commercial segments, especially in the IT industry. |
| Activities | In the specialist area system integration, qualified IT specialists plan and configure IT systems. As an in-house service provider or at customer locations, they install these systems in terms of customer requirements and operate and manage these as well. In case of malfunctions, this would mean that the occurring errors are localised and eliminated using modern diagnostic systems and highly trained experts. They advise in-house and third-party users in the selection and use of equipment and solve application and system problems. Additionally, they compile system documentation and hold training classes for users. |
| Place of work | In general, qualified IT specialists work in offices and spend a lot of time working on a computer. Or they work in field sales on-site at customer locations. Informational and consultation meetings are held in conference rooms; introduction to the workplace and application training are held in rooms set aside for training and educational purposes. |
