|Duration of apprenticeship||3,5 years|
The apprenticeship at Karl Knauer takes place at the Biberach plant and in the vocational school (currently located in Offenburg) on 1-2 days per week.
|Areas of work/industries||Mechatronics engineers can find employment in machine and system engineering as well as in automation technology, e.g., in companies that manufacture industrial process engineering systems. Even in companies working in the field of automotive, aviation and aeronautics construction as well firms specialising in the fields of information, communication or medical technologies offer possible employment opportunities.|
|Activities||Mechatronics engineers use mechanical, electrical and electronic components to build complex mechatronics systems.|
They manufacture the individual components and assemble them into systems and equipment. They commission these complete systems, program them or install the appropriate, pertinent software. The specialist align themselves to circuit diagrams and blueprints and precisely check the systems and equipment before these are handed over to their customers. Furthermore, they keep the mechatronics systems up and running and repair them, if required.
|Place of work||Mechatronics engineers work in workshops and on factory floors; for the assembly and maintenance work they also spend time in the customers' manufacturing locations. Depending on the employer, this could also mean occasionally deployment abroad.|
