A prestigious design award for the "3S“: Sparkle, Shine and Security – three of the top features of the holography lacquering which will be making the packaging specialist Karl Knauer KG a prize winner in the iF packaging design award 2012. Customers that choose this highly finished effect communicate exclusivity and innovation with the packaging of their product.

The 3S holography lacquering is an innovative, extraordinary and especially a sustainable finishing as it is able to achieve holographic effects without the use of so-called holography lamination foils which place a burden on the environment. Instead of this, the holographic effects are created partially or over the entire surface using a special lacquer. This renders the foils which used to have to be laminated on the carton during a separate production process superfluous. The “3S“ effect lacquering can be put to flexible use as an strong impact finishing but it can also be used for product and trademark protection in order to protect high-quality products from forgery.

Karl Knauer KG will be receiving the iF packaging design award the second time in succession. This year, the company from Biberach in Germany qualified from among 248 competitors with the submitted prototype.
The iF packaging design award 2012 is awarded in nine different categories. The criteria which the jury considers include design quality, processing, the material selection, degree of innovation and economic and ecological aspects.

The awards ceremony will be held in Munich on 10 February.
